Recently started a new save file to play with others (as shown in the cover), so I revised the old guide and plan to turn it into a more comprehensive tutorial.
Currently modified to "ulv".
1. Stone Age
For multiplayer games, don't form a party first; you can earn more copper coins and bonus rewards. However, if communication isn't timely, you might accidentally run the same content twice on the same device.
Classic Minecraft mining and exploration: Collecting 4 stacks of logs unlocks a hidden reward. Half a stack of saplings will grant you Structure, Meteorite, and Biome Compasses, which can be used to locate structures, biomes, and more.
Biomes and Structures
It is recommended to visit the Jungle to collect cocoa beans, which can be used to craft Magic Cookies to fully restore your hunger later. The Lush Caves have plenty of clay; you need clay to make blast furnaces (or just mine some casually while exploring the map, and once you have your first blast furnace, you can head to the Ancient Cities, where clay is everywhere.)
The loot boxes in the structure are very important. If you find steel and other materials, you can directly craft high-pressure machines during the Steam Age.
Key structures: Brick Tower( bandit tower ), Village (where you can exchange AE crystals, the Simple Villagers mod makes iron farms easier to build).
Copper Coin Usage
Spend sparingly, this item is limited in supply.
Recommended exchanges: Construction Cane (for infinite building materials), Smelter Set (only a small amount is sufficient), Super Tank (Steam Cache, stores nitrogen, oxygen, etc., exchange a moderate amount), 1 Portable Fluid Component (holds the various products from ULV distillation and all fluids from chemical reactions), 1 Divine Forged Pearl (used to craft the Treasured Forge, otherwise you have to go to the End to defeat the Mythic Boss), Precision Steam Components (exchange at LV, items like Large Solar Panel, Large Grinder, etc., are all great choices).
Establish Base
Using the earlier Building Wand, you now have unlimited building materials. Find a damp area like a river to lay down flooring — Pumps yield higher output in damp locations, see the Pump's quest for specifics. You can also build up high, which makes it convenient to jump down when you're hungry, and don't forget to run /sethome.
1. Steam Era
Steam Crafting Set: Alloying, Grinding, Compressing, and Forging. Mineral resources are scarce in the early game; don’t rush and skip using the Forging Hammer.
Continuously smelt bronze in the alloy furnace — set up simple automation for this. Once you have enough bronze, craft the Steam Casting Furnace, which is a multiblock alloy furnace.
Meanwhile, don't forget to progress the main quest. As soon as the first steel ingot is produced, immediately prepare a steam crusher to process double ores (one of the few satisfying moments in GTO, but the tradeoff is an extremely long era without a plate roller).
Next, aside from continuing to advance your progress, the ULV-tier lathe has cheap rods (unfortunately, you cannot make steel rods with it). You will also need to craft a grinder, compressor, and forge hammer (the small forge hammer has a very fast base speed; if you set up automation to automatically feed alloy furnace products into the hammer, you won’t need to craft one). Then there’s the centrifuge (required for missions) and the accelerated blast furnace (supports parallel processing and reduces crafting time). These two are required for ULV-tier use, so you can build them later, but you will definitely need to make them eventually.
An important note: Use shared structures to reduce mechanical block consumption.
2. ulv
Primitive Distillation Tower, Bronze Boiler, and Steam Cracking are mandatory for main quests; here are a few additional points
1. Bronze Boiler: This stage doesn't require that much steam, so there's no need to use it to generate steam (large solar boilers are sufficient, and you don't have to worry about fuel)
If you need water gas for the main quest, follow this procedure: Set the throttle to 25, do not add water, add fuel, wait until the temperature rises to the corresponding value; remove the fuel, add coal slurry, adjust the throttle to 100.
Yes, explosions will only occur if water is suddenly introduced after heating up, or if water supply is cut off after both water flow and heating have been activated.
2. Steam Cracking: (A 0.4 yield trash machine whose only purpose is to gate progress.) Dismantle components from other steam multiblocks, then scrap it after processing a small amount of naphtha. The LV-tier chemical reactor enables 0.5x cracking yield. Mission rewards are sufficient to unlock the LV-tier chemical reactor and assembler, after which you can craft LV-tier casings using 1 unit of polyethylene.
3. Primitive Distillation Tower, other wikis have temperature control tutorials,
Reminder: It can run petrochemical distillation, but not wood distillation. If you complete a full petrochemical treatment before reaching HV tier, then the phenol required for MV circuit boards, benzene and oil for power generation will all be readily available, allowing for a smooth transition to standard petrochemical processing. (It is recommended to do this only after obtaining an ME Drive and similar items during the MV tier, otherwise fluid storage will be very troublesome)
The remaining two are the Treasure Forge and the Boss Summoner. The LV stage will be explained together with the Slaughterhouse.
Updated as of this point. After Version 0.5, the slaughterhouse mechanics have been changed. Use the Capture enchantment to defeat the enraged boss to obtain the boss summoner (item), then you can insert it into the slaughterhouse to farm gems
3. lv
You could consider making some LV items after finishing the basic machines
You should have done this while progressing the main story
1. Electric Blast Furnace: Veteran GT players will set up two units and share the middle coils, input, and output between them. Previously, the nitrogen produced by air centrifugation was used for this setup.
3. Liquefaction Furnace: There's not much to say,
Note: If you want to use the modules mentioned below, it is best to keep the blast furnace's position unchanged permanently
Steam Machines
Remember to fill in the multiblock mentioned in the first section. It is highly recommended to build a steam mining site now.
1. Large-scale Ore Washing: (If you find it troublesome, use regular ore washing.)
2. Large-scale Thermal Centrifugation: (This is actually because only large-scale thermal centrifugation is available) The aluminum production yield of the garnet series via thermal centrifugation is much higher than that of electrolysis
3. Forging Hammer: Used to process refined ore, as the grinding byproducts can only be obtained with HV.
Slaughterhouse and Mythic Upgrades (Important)
1. Boss Summoner: (Used to obtain mythic materials, the primary required material at present is Luminous Crystal) Craft 1 "Nether Portal" using Magic Source Stones on it, either a vertical 1*2 or horizontal one is fine, place a Magic Source Jar next to it; Warp Scroll: Bind its position to the interior of the Slaughterhouse, then throw it into the portal to activate the teleport gate (if using a Stable Warp Scroll, you can cross dimensions). All spawned monsters will enter the Slaughterhouse. The Energy Compartment affects production speed.
2. Slaughterhouse (Version 0.4.9.2): (Actually does not require power,) enable entity spawning mode (disable AI), feed Employee Swords via the input bus, connect the output bus to a large chest, and place the Experience Obelisk in the output bin (requires Soul Sand as material).
This way, you can farm experience points. (If you don't want the dropped items, you can disconnect the output bus — I haven't tested this specifically)
3. Treasure Forging Furnace: (The main block requires mythical-quality materials, and the boss summoner can be used in the End; you need to collect 12 eyes through an adventure in the End, and you need a spacesuit and oxygen supply.) It is mainly used to make upgrade modules (mentioned in the ULV quest)
Key Note: For upgrade modules, they can provide up to a 0.5 speed bonus and 0.5 energy bonus. The experience consumed affects the effect cap (the effect's strength follows a probability distribution between the cap and 1), with the maximum effect reached at level 100; multiple modules can be installed on the same machine to multiply the effects.
For level 10 experience farming, almost all drops are above 0.95. Installing too many low-tier modules may cause the effect to regress.
Power Amplifier: Increases speed and energy consumption, but total power usage remains unchanged—this is a type of lossless overclocking. If you have acquired enough energy upgrades, you can add an amplifier to reach full speed. Alternatively, if your base’s power generation only supports 3 16A Energy Storages and cannot trigger the third overclock, you can use this to trigger 3x energy consumption for a lossless overclock at 0.33 speed.
4. MV
Few of the multiblocks listed at the top of the quest are useful. They only gain manufacturing productivity or practical value once you reach Hv, so we’ll wait until we get to Hv.
Things to do
1. Pyrolysis Furnace and Log Simulated Farm: Directly obtain coal tar to facilitate phenolic resin production. You can also consider producing benzene for power generation (delete this and paste the link once you have the power generation tutorial)
5. HV
"The episode that most needs polishing", we need petrochemical lines, AE template automation, etc. First complete the left and upper parts of the mission before considering the rocket-related matters.
Extremely demanding on Stainless Steel (hope you’ve stacked enough myth upgrades). Currently, it seems that dual HV voltage Kantar has the lossless overclocking trait for Stainless Steel,
Circuit Assembly
Build two large steam-powered electrical setups, which double the production of LV and MV processor circuits respectively
Mining Office
After heat separation, go to the grinder
Petrification Line
Fluid Drilling - Distillation - Desulfurization - Cracking - Distillation
The Distillation Tower breaks easily. It is recommended to use film tape or automatic maintenance (EV circuits are super expensive)
If you are really short on stainless steel, it is recommended to first build 11-stage distillation, cracking, and polymerization facilities, and use chemical reactions to handle the desulfurization steps
Once you have complete Petrification, you can go for Petrification-based power generation.
Part Assembly
For MV-level works, templates, organs, and so on all require a large number of MV parts
General Factory
Wait until you reach the Moon, craft the entire HV frame once you have titanium ingots
6. EV
Temporarily empty, but remember that the new circuit requires 3 new multiblocks. Pay attention to the multiblock materials, and don't stop smelting the corresponding ingots.
Expansion modules on reactors and blast furnaces, acceleration chambers,
